I tend to skip updates unless crucial which are set to automatic, precisely because of my 2 decades of amateur Windows experience (What was wrong with SGI?) which taught me that this scenario happens exponentially more frequently with ever increasing updates. Otherwise, you show up to work in the morning to present your findings in a seminar via programs which no longer function, & refuse to be supported. @#$%&!!Well, that & buy solely OSs that are no newer than 6yo.
