But when you're building products are this price point you can't add much in the way of human labor, additional machining, etc. steps, etc. How much does this thing cost? At a few hundred I'd understand.

$230 but I wouldn't be so kind in making excuses for the manufacturer. I would expect better. Come on, a metal bar and other components falling off clanking around inside the case? Is that acceptable?
