I don't backup iTunes separately, I backup my entire computer....

The first couple steps are there to ensure that all your content and metadata are consolidated in one place... something you should have enabled in the first place. It is not complicated.

In addition to the built-in Time Machine backup utility, I use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to create a fully bootable backup drive. If my main disk fails or needs to be restored, I just boot off the backup.

You should be able to find similar tools on the PC like Acronis True Image.
