Some folks don't seem to understand that speed alone is not the only criteria for judging the quality of SSDs, and I wouldn't trust the judgement of a person who defragments his.
Samsung 840 and 850 Pro series have universally received rave reviews by websites run by people who specialize in storage devices. However, there was an issue with a 850 Pro firmware update. The bottom line is this. If you don't need the update don't install it. These updates are often to improve performance in very specific cases and if you don't fit that case there is no need to update the firmware. The latest shipments of the 850 Pro series have the latest update.
SSDs are all commodity products but Samsung is clearly the technology and market leader in the field of flash memory and SSDs. My two choices for SSDs would include Samsung and Intel.
