There are chapters specifically devoted to mains power supplies with background and applicable fundamentals

I don't doubt there are but, alas, though you consume bandwidth with glossy pix, you don't say which chapters in which books.

What BTW is an "applicable fundamental"? It sounds like an Ann Summers accessory.

Duncan's book is aimed mainly at the the pro-audio sector. If you want to call them "hobbyists", that's for you to sort out with its members. IME, they're a touchy bunch.
