RE: Is this going to work?

It will probably work but probably won't be bit perfect. I don't know of any way to bypass the standard audio chain (volume control etc.) when using AirPlay. I don't have Qobuz but I think it streams FLAC. AirPlay is ALAC. And I think Apple TV converts everything to 48 KHz. So there will be a string of lossless conversions: FLAC->PCM->ALAC->44.1K PCM->48K PCM.

I've done some streaming of uncompressed 44.1K music to my Linn DS boxes via AirPlay and it isn't quite as good as DLNA playback but it's better than 320kbps lossy streams. In my case, I think the audio stays 44.1K throughout, and there is no sample rate conversion to 48K.
