Has anyone used an Oppo 105 as their computer audio DAC? Been a bit buggy for me.

I have been using a MacBook Pro as my primary computer-based system with a Bel Canto 2.5 DAC in a 2 channel only system. I use Pure Music as my player, and just upgraded to version 2.0 finally. Once I got up to speed on PM, I've never had any real issues with it in that system, and version 2.0 has been fine too.

This past weekend I decided to experiment with moving the Mac into my HT/MCH/2CH combo system. I need to update my system profile, but the most relevant equipment for purposes of my post is an Oppo 105 and Krell Foundation pre-pro. (Love both pieces for movies, MCH music and stereo.)

I love the sound I am getting, but am experiencing some bugginess with the Mac hooked into the Oppo's USB DAC input in the back. First, I couldn't get the Oppo to recognize a signal at all even though all the settings looked right. Then suddenly I could and had a great listening session. But later when I switched out to watch TV and then later back to the Mac, I was once again unable to get a signal. But all day today it's been playing fine. However, I keep getting a blue screen intermittently, especially when I first turn the Mac on.

One fact that *might* be relevant is that I have also hooked the Mac up to an HDMI input in the Krell (with a mini-display adapter) so that my wife and I can also use it to watch Region 3 DVDs. We'd been using a "hacked" NAD DVD player for her Korean DVDs but would like to reduce clutter. I don't think that the dual hook-up is causing the problem though, as I believe the issues were also occurring with the mini-display adapter unplugged.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced any of these issues and/or found work-arounds. The Mac is an early 2011 MB Pro if that's of any relevance.

I am also wondering if I should relieve the MacBook of this duty and get a dedicated Mac Mini, but then I wouldn't have an optical drive so I'd still have to burn discs on the MacBook and would be stuck with the NAD for the Korean DVDs.

I am beset by First World Problems! Oh, poor me. ;-)
