Inexpensive DAC for Spotify/Pandora listening

My son in law listens almost exclusively to streaming music (IPad/Iphone) and vinyl. They have a new house and I am going to give them some of my old components, speakers, etc. Unfortunately, the Yamaha receiver I have does not support digital. Is there a dac or two you can recommend with RCA outs for under $100? Should I be thinking bluetooth? Headphone out? Thanks for any suggestions. They are non-critical listeners, so far.
Or maybe should I think Apple TV and get some type connector to port the sound to the receiver, they could use the HDMI to connect to their flat screen. That would seem to add more functionality/capability.
