Choppy DSD playback using Jriver 19?

I have tried several different DSD rates and get a choppy playback. I asked at the Jriver forum and it was suggested it could be a lack of cpu power. I checked usage during playback and it was around 27%. Computer is a windows 8.1 laptop running a A4 processor, 8 gig ram, USB hard drive music storage, and Wyred4 Sound DSD SE DAC. I also tried standard 16/44 recordings upsampled to DSD with the same results. Any ideas what the problem might be?
