Hi and thanks because i did not perform serious tests with it

But i see " Galvanic Isolation: ADuM 1250 chips " on the dac's page in the link
Have you tried a signal only usb cable ? maybe the dac works without the usb power. So the usb power supply is not needed.
I cut the power lines in a usb cable and a Cambridge Audio dacmagic is working the same (i.e. without the usb power), as it should for all nicely designed dac.
