Hi i thanks a lot for the very interesting explanation.
Still i have the feeling that not only technical considerations are made when deciding for a standard.
I have read, as an example, that a good ethernet cable is better than an hdmi cable. But for AV hdmi is all around here.I have also found some interesting comments in the link that i quote here

i like this very much indeed. A controller dedicated only to AV purposes. It sounds me quite right.
