What you need to measure is the voltage stability at high-frequency under load. Power supplies that don't have really fast regulation will probably not make a difference and may actually be worse if the SMPS is faster. It takes a special discrete regulator to do digital well. I have these in my personal Hynes-based supplies. I don't sell them BTW
