The 'snubbers' on the iFi Mercury USB cable reminds me of a conversation I had in a thread a while back where an inmate said across a couple posts:
"Last thing to do is to use ferrite USB cable.... Even though it causes usb errors! Chokes are not nice things to use. Ever heard of hysteresi? "

A 'ferrite choke' is a metal oxide ceramic. ;-)
