EDO will not help. I use an old moving coil cartridge pre pre amp between the DF and my preamp. The device is nothing more that two Souter transformers. It works brilliantly! The gain is now the same as all my other devices. The chain is, SBT to a USB hub to which the DF is plugged then into my pre preamp and then into the Bryston pre. The SBT and the hub are battery powered and this helps a lot to clean up the sound. I use a 20000mah Anker. It has heaps of storage and charges quickly from its own supply NOT a slow usb power feed.
This seems like the only way to go with the SBT and the DF but the results are stunning.
