My recollection was that broadcast FM stereo was roughly equivalent in sound quality with 320 kbps MP3, definitely not as good as CD quality. This assumes a good station that doesn't compress the audio dynamics to increase their broadcast range and that one has excellent FM reception. In my case, I lived less than 10 miles from a 50 KW FM station and was using a Marantz 10 B tuner. Where I live now there are no stations within decent range because of the mountains. The best Internet sound I get is the 48/16 FLAC stream from Czech Radio.
