I sent in a Sandisk 64 Extreme and a new one should arrive today. Wouldn't reformat or delete folders, no matter what. It did delete what was in folders. The good thing is that Sandisk is incredibly responsive and gives good support. They don't keep sending you emails asking, "did you do this? did you try that?" They just emailed a RMA after asking some Qs in one email.
Everyone here, I am sure, knows to not keep anything of value on flash memory. I have seen some terrible things, like the father who lost several hundred photos of his small children. He had not uploaded or copied to anywhere else. Hard to believe, isn't it.
Also, it is not limited to any brand. It is pretty much across the board.
