It would also need a DMA engine that was dedicated to the I2S port and not shared between USB and Ethernet. The I2S interface should also be a slave, so that the bit clock could come from the DAC module, avoiding the need for a PLL or ASRC in the DAC.
(The Pi may have this capability. I haven't investigated.)
