This IS the issue with consumer and audio software, with no clearly defined and validated drivers or settings for 'best' replay quality.
This I ascribe to ignorance, laziness or arrogance by some programmers, and ignorance of consumers.
If scientific software is written like this, then the world would have had many mishaps.
