I've received thoughtful, personal advice from just about everyone of them, none of which was of the "just buy my stuff" nature. I actually make a point of reading small manufacturer's posts because you really do learn a lot when developing products in a niche market some of which is potentially useful to others even if not especially discernible in your own current offerings.
On the other hand, their products naturally reflect what they have come to regard as important, especially things that larger manufacturers may not explicitly control. That being the case is it any wonder then that these are the first things they look for in other designs?
