RE: Quality DAC for mobile listening - I just don't get it.

I've had this inner debate with myself as well. At the end of the day, better is better, so it becomes a matter of budget, and convenience. I have a HiFiman 801, which is large, and has limited storage capacity, but does accept sd cards. it sounds extremely good, and also functions as a usb dac and improves the sound of my laptop via jriver.

i also have a Cowon x7 with a 160 gig HD, insanely long battery life, and quite good drive for most in ear and regular headphones (it drove LCD-2's but i would not really want to listen to it or them that way!

So, it really comes down to how much usic you want to carry with you, the level of sonic performance you seek, and whether you want to be subjected to cavity searches when travelling :)
