Fans, razor blades, and vacuum tubes

Are you suggesting that just running a computer in the listening room would affect sound quality, even if the computer is not connected to the audio system and even if the computer's acoustic noise is inaudible when the music is silent? (I think I can agree with you based on my own experience, BTW. I am just trying to make your issue clear.)

Another problem with fans is that they may be quiet when new, but noisy as the product ages. They fall into the category of razor blades, a product that one can never trust as they insidiously degrade. This is what happened to my SOTA turntable. The sound quality gradually degraded and I never noticed it until there was horrible wow and flutter, due to a failed bearing. Vacuum Tubes have the same problem, hence they are banned from my system, no matter how good they sound under ideal circumstances.
