I have no need for FX camera bodies or f2.8 short zooms. Thank the lord!
In my case, the cost to get to the end of the road seems to vary with the application. For macro photography, getting the lens and camera body I need was achievable. I don't dream of unobtainable gear for that application.
Wildlife photography is different. I've got gear that works well but I'm aware that pricier gear would make some shots better. That gear costs way more than I'm willing to pay and it weighs more than I'll willing to lug around.
Back to cameras vs. audio. I went for years spending as little as possible on camera gear and then spent money more freely for 2 years. I might have one more round of free spending on audio gear. I'll be trying to calibrate my personal law of diminishing returns.
