RE: Micro and Macro Details???

The perception of a low level musical event's changes in volume vs a large level muscial event changes in volume. For example, a harpsichord playing in the back ground of an orchestra. Can you percieve dynamic changes in the volume of the instrument or does it get lost in the background?

The smack of a bass drum like on the reference Recording stuff is an example of a macro level event. Does the system play this drum without breakup, or is there compression of the sound. Or in the case of Tony's speakers, is the woofer sent to the retirement home. Or better yet, the string section of the orchestra playing. Does it sound the same all of the time or is there perception of a dynamic change in volume.
