Home Computer Audio Asylum

Music servers and other computer based digital audio technologies.

Not Really

Actually they don't try to "fix" the timing problems.

The only reason to "Adjust" the timing, priorities and kill processes is to LET the audio process go unimpeded from beginning to end.

Its like if you were in a Car [data] going downtown [to a Dac]. Killing processes and or adjusting your priority and other processes priorities would be like giving YOU a fast lane. At the same time it would be like adjusting the timing of all the other cars to that you will pass through every intersection with a green light while not actually stopping other cars unnecessarily [slowing the OS down]. Furthermore, killing processes would be like taking extra cars off the road, so even the OS itself can run more smoothly without undue stress. Windows normally is like 6pm rush hour traffic. Adjusting processes is like Sunday morning on a clear day. Which would you rather drive in...

As it stands...not doing this puts the data in the same traffic as all the other cars [data, processes].
