While you may lust after an MP-1, you might consider a MP-3 as an alternative. Having a friend with the MP-1, I've been able to swap the two preamps between both of our systems and honestly never felt I was missing anything with my MP-3. The MP-3 is the real value, IMO.If the new UV-1 does not have the same cartridge loading abilities of the MP-1 or 3, I think I'd give it a miss. Many phonostages don't have the loading range I'd want/need but the Atma's implementation allows for any value you want. That of course opens to doors to some "resistor rolling"!
