I mentioned to Ralph the idea of using the phase switch on my MP1 as a mono switch (because I am deaf to 180 degree phase switching anyway). With the upsurge of interest in vinyl, many of us have purchased mono LPs, produced from the early 50s (the beginning of the LP era) to as late as the mid-60s. I found by messing with some vintage preamplifiers for fun, that the listening experience is very much enhanced by switching to mono for mono LPs. Short of buying a mono only cartridge, this is a major improvement. In fact, I had never realized what I was missing. Mono LPs sound MUCH better played in mono, either by virtue of combining the two channels via a mono switch or with a mono cartridge.
