it's been 10 years since I made the input circuit change, But what stood out the most was with the original circuit it had a very distinct tube sound, warm very smooth, think older conrad johnson preamp.
With the diff amp the added warmth was gone. Either was nice, i built the amp in modules, so changing back to the original would only be desoldering a few connections and soldering in the original module.
