I know what you mean. I have tried to turn the bias up but the problem is that not all of the power supplies in my Spectra 2200 and 4400 can go higher. I am thinking about outboard power supplies to get the necessary bias higher. At the moment I measured them in the low 4000 V range. I think I get a bit more than 800 V AC.
