Jim, that is a really cool idea. Have you tried it or something like it? My conception based on some experience, however limited, is that the "sound" of a classical CF is mostly due to its non-linearity, that once you help linearize it with a CCS or as in Allen Wright's SLCF configuration, the CF is much more transparent and differences among tube types becomes much less significant. So, I would wonder which is the better way to to: add the circuit mods and stick with the 6SN7 or other obvious choices or try to use the exotic DHTs, with or without a CCS, etc.
