I agree with Tre in most of his above post, except that I am not trying to 'fool' anyone.

What simply is is that 300bs don't work so well for OTLs (even though it is possible to do it), and so 6AS7Gs sound better in OTLs.

I would not say that is so for SETs and the like, but that is not the point of this inquiry.
