Front pair (V1 and V2) influence sound the most. My favorites are any of the old "parallel oriented" triangular plate Sylvanias, old Raytheon and KenRad flat plates, RCA grey glass, and the Soviet metal base "1578 stamped" 6SN7 made at Moscow Electrolamp Works(MELZ). The "A matched" Chinese miltary tubes from DIY HiFi Supply are very good and nicely-priced. I use them as drivers (V4).
