My Infinity Composition Prelude PFR speakers are 95.5dB [as measured by Stereophile Magazine] and dip to a nominal 4-ohms. I've owned them from new and have never found an all-round better full-range speaker for a few grand.

I have heard the excellent SE-OTL on my speakers many times and can tell you that whilst it is easily the best sounding amp I have ever *heard, it cetainly does not have the power to drive the listening volumes to anything above a loud conversation.

If I could get more volume, I would buy the SE-OTL without hesitation. The truth is; I need more power.

*I certainly have not heard every amp there is, but have thoroughly listended to many on my speakers; including: -

Plinius SA250 [SS]
Musical Fidelity X-50 [SS]
Cary 300B SE Signature [SET Tube]
Dynaco Mk 4 Copy [PP Tube]
Leak Stereo 20 [PP Tube]
Proel Profesional [D]
Arcam Alpha [SS]
NuForce Reference 8 [D]
VTL ST70 [PP Tube]
Music Reference RM9 Mk1 [PP Tube]
... and many more!

IMHO, Solid State NEVER captures the 'realness and palpabiliity' of real music.

And tubes RARELY produce the extended top octaves or 'snap & speed' of real music.

The best compromises I have found have all been tubed amps; of which [in its limited volume band] the TS SE-OTL has MURDERED everything else.

Enjoy the search...

Tone!
