I used to own a pair of M50s, which I had Ralph upgrade to the then curent M60 Mk II. In a fit of insanity, I sold them. I have now replaced them with a set of M60 MK II.2s. While to the best of my audio memory, the M50s are not the equal of my current atma-spheres, they are very good amps and an excellent way to start with OTLs. Too, I kind of like the styling--and the inputs are in back, not on the front as in newer models. While the upgrade is not cheap, it may be worth it if the M50s price is not too steep. Like all OTLs, they are best driving higher impedence speakers. Altenatively, you can get Paul Speltz's zeros (see the Atma-sphere website links) and drive what you want (I am driving Von Schweikert VR-4s, which have a minimum impedence of 3.5 ohoms or so in the bass and with the Zeros, they sound great!). Good luck.
