The first post was warped into nowhere, here's a second attempt.

I concur with you - to some extent. It's not about true OTLs, it's about cathode-coupled bridged pushpull tube amps. It's about amps that are intended to be used with an autoformer (or a real transformer). Amps that cannot drive real world loads without them. Take an AS-M60, remove 4 or 6 of the output tubes, that's it - looks like OTL but cannot really drive an 8 Ohm load (not to say 4 Ohm).

Call me a conservationists, I can't afford having 16 6AS7-s burning full throttle in my room...
