Off the top of my head, I assume you're hearing the same difference that one hears between cold vs. hot tubes. The hotter the tube gets, the better it sounds - in general.The speed of sound also changes with heat and humidity, as do other propagation characteristics. Heat and humidity also have an effect on cone speakers, especially paper cones.
Or maybe the heat's just gotten to you ;-) It was murder here, for the last two weeks.
