Re: Which pre-amp matches well with Atma-sphere M60 Mk2.2?

There isn't any drastic disadvantage to driving an M-60 from a single ended source, at least for the M-60's part of the equasion. You will lose the advantages of a balanced source in the fist-stage voltage amplifier, but in SE mode, the voltage amp performs a phase split, and everything else down the line is driven balanced.

The real disadvantage is in the realm of the single ended cables, and the preamplifier's ability to control and drive those cables. This can be quite significant.

This said, I've driven my own M-60s single ended for many years, with very satisfying results. However, I've finally built up a worthy turntable (Empire 208 with the Atma-Sphere 208 plinth, Triplanar Precision tonearm with balanced outputs) and a new MP-3 looms large in my future.

Naturally, it will be in Reseda Green hammertone, to match the amps :-)
