Thanks. I'm a bit surprised, I thought maybe the 12AX7 at least might make a difference. I'll have to try a few of the different brands i've got lying about and see what happens. I'll post back if something interesting occurs.I've heard (from tube sellers--a great unbiased source, right?) that the EL519 is a nicer sounding tube in this amp. Anyone have any experience doing this?
