Well, lemme think about the several amps one for a bit. On the preamp side, I would suggest you get a 5V4GA and test with it. You can run steady state 175ma all day so required output current is fine. Also note that the 5V4GA has an approximate voltage drop of 25 volts at 175ma giving it an effective resistance of ~142 ohms. You'll need to adjust the plate transformer secondary voltage accordingly to your output needs. And you'll need a 5.0VAC 2amp minimum filament supply for the tube.
Are you also planning on using filter chokes as well? I would suggest a double-pi filter... two large henry chokes (10H or more) and 3 stout filter caps. And note that you need to calculate voltage loss on the choke windings.
