Hi John:
Got back from the north country--- went up the NE ext to 80 then west on 80 to 180 then north on the new 15 to Mansfield.
Your observations about the snow cover was essentially correct until we got about 15 miles south of Mansfied. For some reason the snow cover from there north was quite a bit better.
We had three days of pretty good sledding. Spent the first day doing technical trail riding on private lands (with permission) around Mansfield proper. The next day we went up to Watkins Glenn, NY and did a combo of trials and some groomed dirt roads that are shut down to other traffic. The last day we spent gliding through the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon (Wellsboro, PA). Had breakfast at the Black Forrest Snowmobile clubhouse--- have to snowmobile in to it--- and then did about 70 miles of mostly groomed dirt roads and a few pipelines over the mountains and etc.
what a blast. First time in 25 years I was on a snowmobile. Addictive. And the neatest thing is with proper clothing--- the cold temps were not at all an issue. The one night the temps hit ten below F. Was sledding in the early morning at about 5 degrees above. Reinforces the adage of
"having the right equipment" whether it bee audio or snowmobiles or building a house.
Have you ever been up to the Grand Canyon on two wheels?
as a side note--- we gotta get together--- and the weather is coming around to us now--- I just got in a pair of the saki soaked wood coned JVC mini-monitors. We'll have to do some serious auditions later with these and the Pioneer whiskey barrel mini's as well.
