Hi Wayne:
We have had (over the last 10 years or so) several different paint runs on bell end covers. So--- depending on the age of your covers they may have been powder coated or wet painted (traditional spraying).
the wet painted covers were all done with Sherwin Williams poulane paint. With a texture sprayed on the covers first.
the powder coated guys--- I don't know how they were done or what the process is when powder coating.
the closest you can come at home (without real spraying equip) is the hammertone paints in a rattle bottle. With some practice the finish can come out pretty nice--- but the spray can paint job just never seems to have the durability and chip resistance of the pro spray jobs.
