MQ OPTs for Tubelab SE 300b

Hello,

I emailed Mike LaFevre a few days ago about OPTs for a Tubelab SE 300b build (http://tubelab.com/designs/tubelab-se/), but haven't heard back so I thought I'd post here hoping he might see it or that someone else has suggestions.

The speakers are a pair of JM Lab Electra 905
* 2-way MTM
* 91.5 db
* 8 ohm nominal

A German website has posted sonic measurements of the speakers here: http://www.uibel.net/bauvor/bv_fertigboxen/electra905/electra905.html

Builders of the TSE with 300b's tend either to go for:

* B+ of around 360v and OPTs with around 3K-3.6K primary impedance, biased to around 60-75mA.

or

* B+ of around 400v and OPTs at 5K, biased around 80-90mA

The MQ FS-030 seems like the natural option for the first one. However, given that many builders go for OPTs with a 5K primary, I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to ask Mike about a custom build and what it might cost.

I'm inclined to sacrifice a watt or so of power for the increased damping factor and refinement of the 5K, but perhaps there are attributes of MQ iron that would make for a more optimal configuration.

Thanks, and please let me know what you think.

Jeff
