I am confused by these numbers. I have no real knoiwledge of how one designs a choke. I only know what I have seen in the marketplace and how what is availble relates to each other. From what I have seen there is usually a relationship between low DC resistance and current capability. Well, it has always seemed that way when comparing other products.
Is there a quick way to explain how a 10 Hy 5 Ohm DCr choke can handle, only, 125 mA.?
I would like to have some of these, but must admit, compared to what is available they seem a bit expensive. Of course, chokes are probably more complicated than I think they are and I need to know what makes a superior choke.
Why not make these a standard product? I am a little bothered by this limited edition approach. I guess it is better than nothing but can be frustrating if one is not able to justify a purchase within the window. One would think these chokes would be a good product to add to your product line.
I am intrigued by Mr. Medwin's approach to power supply design. I wish he would give us more information on how he approaches supply design. Of course, the knowledge he possesses has been gained with much effort and time. He certainly could not be expected to give it away.
MAYBE, he could be swayed to write an essay, a pamphlet, a book that MAGNEQUEST could sell to those interested in this approach when, and if, these products are put on the market? Maybe MAGNEQUEST could offer power transformers that would meet Medwin's criteria?
If there is something here, and my empirical intuition tells me there is, this is something much bigger than a run of 100 chokes.
Cordially,
Rick McInnis
