This came about as a result of having an issue with my PS Audio Premier Power Plant (PPP); the fan has been frequently going on for more than a year, and as of late I now hear a clicking sound, even without music playing!
2 months ago I added the new PS Audio P3 outlet to my 4 gang box to compare to an old WattGate (cryoed- gold) that I have been using for over 8 years. Of course this requires shutting down the breaker to this dedicated line.
Repowering the system, fan rarely came on! My initial thoughts- it was the WattGaate. And then... about a month ago, not only is the fan frequently coming on (even without music!) the PPP also began clicking frequently. I decided to turn the PPP off, shutting down everything but the amp which is plugged direct to wall. It still clicked! WTF?
This sent me back to the panel. I flipped the 20 amp breaker a few times just in case there was a dirty contact. I turned the PPP back on, and 24 hours later, the problem seems to be gone.
Enter the Music Gun:
This morning, after warming the system up and listening, I gunned the whole system, and yes it performed its' usual magic. I began to think while listening and put 2 and 2 together. I decided to gun the breaker panel.
I will keep my findings to myself, and wait for the feedback from those who take the initiative.
