get one aspect open to doubt in Clark's mind and he throws out the baby with the bath water. Instead of working to clarify existing recommendations and such, he denies everything that has been put forward, surely that is the way for progress, particularly when nothing is offered in lieu of these"contested" recommendations.
What is particular interest ins AES 26 and various EIA recommendation carry on in similar vein. indicating some consistency, if nothing else.
The fact that the exceedingly vast majority of Amps, preamps, cartridges, tonearms all follow the AES and EIA guidelines should also be noted.

The AES has published letters pointing out that they would welcome a recommended practice be written up with concern to speakers. As a life time member, Clark surely must have read the invitation that the AES extended. With his great expertise and understanding, surely he could come up with a written proposal. In fact, claiming to be a 'scientist' and a physics major, coupled with his optical engineering experience, surely a simple issue such as polarity and it's preservation need not be hideously complex and impossible to preserve.

Now back to polarity:, absolute polarity is a special case where the signal is 180 degrees out of phase with the original one. What happens if the signal is 179.5 degrees out, or perhaps 182 degrees out? Technically, it is not an issue of absolute polarity, is it?

As for standards, do tire sizes have the clout of law attached to their nominal size ratings? Is the use of national coarse or fine thread for screws governed by law? If not, then they are not true standards, and they are just common place practices, following ANSI recommendations.
