Nope, that was so the Amp's internal resistance becomes irelevant. Remember, in those days the Amp's usually had no negative feedback and often in Studios an AL1 was the output pentode....

> and Small's papers.Hardly, T&S only showed how to make an efficient resonant system, not how to avoid making a resonant system. Apart from that the entire various interrelations between the classic fundamental parameters and enclosure design where known and understood in the late 40's or earlier, all T&S did was to replace the complex and many fundamental parameters with a few "compound" numbers. In the process they also effectively removed the ability to predict the large signal behaviour of the speakers, sadly.
