Home High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

RE: Inductor Size

Further thoughts on the subject: It always amazes me that folks often say "I can really improve a crossover by larger gage wire, large gage inductors.....".

My advice always is that this can easily change the balance of the speaker, and one must be prepared to then use compensating resistors, as pointed out above. So, what so many folks think will be a no-brainer improvement might not be so.

Again, if the resistance is lowered to the woofer, then this can be a good thing as if is the efficiency limiter. But, in reality, how much efficiency can one gain? Likely very little I would think.

Higher quality wire, different matter. Higher quality components, different matter. But, what many folks think is higher quality may not be . I've listened to some 5 year old crossovers that work perfectly, measure fine, and have sounded absolutely fantastic. In that case, I don't change a thing.
