RE: bias voltage for crossover caps?

That's an old trick that was used in high-end mixing consoles including MCI and Midas back in the late 60's/early 70's.

Instead of using nonpolar coupling caps, they used dual polarized electrolytic's for coupling, with a bias voltage applied through a high-value resistor.

In my opinion, that's why they sounded so nice.

The same could be applied to crossovers, using a battery. The battery should give shelf life as long as the caps are not leaky. I would use a resistor to isolate the battery from the audio.
