My Abby with Fostex 166 took FOREVER to break in. The instruction manual said to play some loud rock to aid in the break in. You might try the old trick of wiring the BK-16 out of phase, placing them with woofers almost touching and laying a blanket over the top to mask the noise and run some bass discs at low to moderate volume to exercise those surrounds.
Hours? Don't know but it seemed like a long process to me when I first started playing with Fostex. Good luck with the BK-16. You'll like the final result.
