RE: Parallel Inductors in Passive Crossovers

A resistor on a parallel leg of the circuit damps that leg. Whatever the resulting filter might be called, assuming competent design, the resistor is there to help tailor the frequency response and/or impedance curve to better serve the designer's intentions.

I use damping resistors on parallel legs in my crossovers when they are called for. Last year at RMAF was the first time I'd shown with grilles on. I had a fullrange driver speaker owner who listened for several songs and thought I was using a single fullrange driver in my "satellite" speakers. Nope! Well then I must be using first-order slopes. Nope again! Now that's too small a data sample to draw any conclusions, but at least he didn't stick his fingers in his ears and run screaming from the room.

Me being a dealer makes you leery?? It gets worse... I'm a manufacturer too.
