Or, a Liter is 1000 cubic centimeters which is even easier to use than inches. 10cm x 10cm x 10cm = 1L or 1000 cubic centimeters.
The decimal and the metric systems are easier to use than the imperial system for anyone that still has a standard amount of fingers.
It does require a degree of flexibility and admitting that you don't live at the center of the universe.
